Collairnie Steading and Castle

"A fantastic opportunity to construct a substantial farm steading development and restore an historic castle. (Subject to necessary consent)."

General Description

DESCRIPTION

The Steading
Although the Steading adjoins the historic Castle it is nevertheless well integrated allowing the full residential development of the Steading using the secluded ancient monument as a feature. The steading area which is mostly traditional is listed category C(s) by Historic Scotland.

The footprint of the traditionally built area extends to about 1,900 m² with much of it at two storey height and it has been calculated that it would be possible to construct about 7 dwellings on the site. Although it has suffered some neglect the principal stone work appears to be in good condition.

The Castle
The Castle, which is A Listed stands at the north end of the steading is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument by Historic Scotland. It has been recommended that it be included in the Castle Conservation Register. This highlights ruined castles and castle houses which Historic Scotland believe could be successfully restored and re-used.
